Colonnade Development and SiteCast Construction were recently named Philanthropic Group of the Year by the Ottawa Hospital Foundation for raising $564,000 for The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre 20-20 Campaign. The expansion project will double the size of The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, which will help reduce wait times, add state-of-the-art equipment and provide space for more cancer research.
Launched in fall 2008, Colonnade and SiteCast Construction challenged suppliers, tenants and customers to help raise funds for the 20-20 Campaign. Colonnade promised to match all donations up to $250,000. Together, Colonnade’s suppliers donated $300,000, which grew to $550,000 after the corporate match.
The award was presented to Steve Kaminski, President of Colonnade Development and 20-20 Campaign Cabinet member, by Roger Greenberg, Chairman and CEO of the Minto Group, at the Foundation’s Report to the Community event on April 28 at the Minto Suite Hotel.
“The success of the Colonnade Challenge is due in large part to Steve’s tremendous leadership,” said Greenberg, who is also an honorary co-chair on the 20-20 Campaign Cabinet. “This is just one more example of how generous the construction and building sector has been in supporting The Ottawa Hospital. We have been inspired by this Campaign to expand The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre. I know that the completion of the Cancer Centre will have a positive impact on the people we love.”
The 20-20 Campaign, which ends in January 2010, aims to raise $20 million in 20 months to expand The Ottawa Hospital Cancer Centre, located at the Hospital’s General Campus.
